Orian Rugs is a family-owned manufacturer of decorative area rugs that was established in 1979. They are located in Anderson, SC where they currently have over 500,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space, which is ten times what they originally started out with 30 years ago.
In 2006, they formed the Orian Rugs’ Goin’ Green program which started moving the company toward a greener future. In 2007 they implemented the reduce, reuse and recycle initiatives throughout every step of their manufacturing process. In 2008 they eliminated all waste to become a zero landfill manufacturing facility.
Lets take a closer look at how Orian Rugs is reducing their carbon footprint:
Reduce

The plant gas broiler has been replaced with a new, more efficient electric model

The standard incandescent light bulbs have been switched to energy-efficient fluorescents

The synthetic fiber they produce requires less energy to process than other fiber options
Re-use

Broken down wooden pallets are repaired and re-used

All process waste is collected and used in other industrys

All the waste produced in the plant is recycled or used as fuel and concrete fillers
Recycle

Cardboard boxes and yarn tubes are collected and recycled

All process plastic is baled and recycled

Printer cartridges, batteries, old computer equipment, and cell phones are collected and recycled
Orian Rugs is doing their part as a leader in the community to help make sure we have a cleaner, more renewable future for generations to come.
