Below is a chart that has various solutions for specific stains on area rugs. The mild detergent that is recommended by most area rug manufacturers is Woolite. Always make sure to test a small portion first to make sure it will not damage your rug. Do not over saturate your rug as it could cause damage and do not leave the rug wet as it may start to mildew and eventually cause the rug to rot.
